The KU Alzheimer's Disease Center is proud to offer our Lifestyle Empowerment for Alzheimer's Prevention (LEAP!) program. This innovative program translates the latest Alzheimer's disease prevention research into actionable recommendations for everyday life.
LEAP! is an education program, but it is also a partnership with our community. We offer a variety of classes. You can come to us, or we can come to you. We also offer consulting for organizations who want to boost their brain-health resources. LEAP! opportunities include:
- Foundations of LEAP! - a six-week course on the fundamentals of a brain-healthy lifestyle (offered at the KU Clinical Research Center, Emporia Fitness, and a variety of community organizations and senior living centers)
- LEAP! Workshops - individual classes on specific Alzheimer's prevention topics
- LEAP! in Action - fitness classes with an emphasis on brain-healthy exercise, currently offered in Emporia, KS
- LEAP! for Communities - bring the LEAP! program, as well as consulting from our experts, to your group or organization
The Foundations of LEAP! course also includes the LEAP! Guide to Smart Aging, a helpful Alzheimer's prevention manual written by the KU ADC. Click here for more information about upcoming Foundations of LEAP! classes.
Each community that participates in our program has the opportunity to become a LEAP! Community. Click here to see a list of the current LEAP! Communities.
