Biography: Dr. Newell received her medical degree from the University of Kansas and trained in pathology at the University of Colorado Denver and in neuropathology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. She completed research fellowships in the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Unit and the Huntington Disease Neuropathology Unit, both at Massachusetts General Hospital East.

Clinical Interests: Neuropathological evaluation of neurodegenerative disease; diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors

Research Interests: Neuropathological studies of human neurodegenerative disease, particularly Alzheimer's disease and dementia with Lewy bodies, including studies of mouse models of human disease
